MGM City Center - Sobella retail |
|
CityCenter is a 16,797,000-square-foot (1,560,500 m2) mixed-use, massive urban complex on 76 acres (31 ha) located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The project was started by MGM Resorts International; Dubai World became a joint partner during the project's construction phase. It is the largest privately funded construction project in the history of the United States. The project is connected by a people mover system to the adjacent MGM properties.
The project straddles Harmon Avenue and is bordered by (listed clockwise, starting on the east side): Las Vegas Boulevard, the Monte Carlo Resort, I-15, the Bellagio, and The Cosmopolitan Towers. The site was formerly occupied by the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino, the Bellagio employee parking lot, and several standalone commercial structures.
The conceptual master plan for Project City Center was designed by Ehrenkrantz, Eckstut & Kuhn Architects, laying out the project with approximately 2,400 condominium and condo-hotel units and approximately 4,800 hotel rooms, distributed within several high-rise towers around The Crystals, an ultra high-end retail and entertainment district. It is designed to have all commodities for daily life, featuring a 4,000-room hotel and casino (Aria), two 400-room boutique hotels (The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, with 227 residential condo units, and the Harmon Hotel and Spa), a purely residential offering (Veer Towers), a condo-hotel (Vdara Condo-hotel) and a 500,000 sq ft (46,000 m2) retail and entertainment district which was intended to house the first grocery store directly on the Strip (though as of August 2010, there is no grocery on the property). The multi-use project makes extensive use of green technologies, such as using reclaimed water and an on-site power plant. The Mandarin Oriental, Aria, and Vdara all received LEED certification in November 2009.
With a total cost of approximately $11 billion, CityCenter is the largest privately financed development in the United States. The original cost estimate was $4 billion, but it was pushed up by rising construction costs and design changes. CityCenter is expected to open with approximately 12,000 employees. Vdara, Aria, Mandarin Oriental, and The Crystals opened in December 2009. |

This mixed-use development in the central London borough of Southwark, by the river Thames, will be a vertical city with retail, entertainment, residential units, luxury hotel, offices and observation galleries.
The tower's design will add a sharp and light presence in the London skyline. Its shape is generous at the bottom and narrow at the top, disappearing into the air like the mast of a tall ship. The tower will be sheathed in glass, using a ventilated double-skin facade to reduce heat gain. While filling a growing need for desirable living and office space in the city, this dramatic structure will not only redefine London’s skyline, it will become an iconic symbol for London recognized throughout the world.
On levels 2 to 28, 585,000 sf of office space will be finished to the highest specifications, providing a variety of working environments. Each of the office floors will contain naturally-ventilated winter gardens. These break-out spaces and meeting areas allow occupants to enjoy natural light and fresh air in a multifunctional, fully-occupiable space within the office. |

Heron Quays West is a skyscraper development approved for construction in Canary Wharf, London. The current design is for two large skyscrapers connected by a large atrium at the base, not unlike the Riverside South development. The site is at the south west of the Canary Wharf site off Bank Street. It is one of the final pieces of the current Canary Wharf design masterplan.
Developed by the Canary Wharf Group and designed by the architects, Richard Rogers Partnership, The current building design has two skyscrapers. Tower one has 40 floors and a height of 214 metres, and tower two has 29 floors and a height of 156 metres. The two towers are joined by a common base. |

The Riverside development at Canary Wharf, London comprises two office towers linked by a central podium building containing enhanced height trading floors. The main entry to the towers is at an upper level off Canary Wharf Westferry Circus allowing the lower level of the development fronting the Thames River to be used as a waterside public route. The tower buildings have centrally located cores with ‘slipped’ office floor plates.
Adamson is providing master plan coordination, design development for the building core and exterior envelope, full contract documents, and site review. Adamson Associates was also involved in the schematic design alongside Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners as it went through the London planning approval process. The work involved studying options and coordinating detailed plans for the building cores, plant spaces and basements with the client and the consultant team; reviewing curtain wall details, ensuring the building remained efficient, and reviewing design standards with Canary Wharf on a regular basis. |

Along with the Shard London Bridge, London Bridge Place will complete the London Bridge Quarter. Even before it has been built the building has a number of unofficial names, inlcuding One London Bridge House, the Baby Shard and The Gem.
Adjoining the much taller Shard London Bridge, London Bridge Place is also owned by the Sellar Property Group and was designed by Renzo Piano. Planning permission was given in 2006 for a 600,000 sq ft (55,740 sq m) office and retail building, while an updated design was approved in 2007.
The building will provide high quality office space, with typical floors of over 30,000 sq ft (2,787 sq m) each. Access to the offices will be through an entrance lobby located on a new piazza with a new entrance to London Bridge Underground Station and a new bus station incorporated into the design.
Work to demolish New London Bridge House was completed in 2010. Railway Approach will remain closed until the development is complete and businesses that were situated along this street have relocated. |
